Sir Jeffarious Edwardious The First Of Vik.

Hello all,
You may know him simply as "Jeffrey" but if you're a super fan you will know him as 'Sir Jeffarious Edwardious The First Of Vik!'

He is the little ginger cat of mine who follows me to work, or hitches a ride. He often sits on the bench next to the fire and if you decide to sit there he is the guy that will stare into your soul until you feel so bad, you give up your seat for him.... that guy.
He never really grew into a full size cat, I guess he forgot that part and because of that, he has become a bit sassy and bitey!

Jeff lives with me, follows me to work each day and does the best impression of an Olympic gold medalist in ignoring me.

Do I love him a bit too much? Yeeeeps, does he love me... that's questionable!

On the 24th March 2021 Jeff was found outside of the house in agony with a broken leg. It was fairly late in the evening and a very stormy night. We knew this couldn’t wait and began the 3.5 hour journey to the emergency vets in Reykjavik.

The wonderful vet met us late at night and after a LOT of pain killers, sedatives (a double dose) and X-rays, they found two broken bones in his back leg. We later established that it was caused due to a big cat fight while Jeff was trying to get back into the house.

This was a big blow because Jeff is very much an outdoor cat and loves nothing more than a simple half marathon hike up to the mountains and back followed by an afternoon in the bus making customers go weak at the knees.
So, that's the story of how he broke his leg.

Poor little guy had three major surgeries in the space of 6 weeks. He had plates, a cast / carrot (Orange cast) and finally the vet made the decision to amputate his little leg.

To make him feel better we tell people he lost his leg in an underwater knife fight with a sea dragon… but you should see the other guy!

We did a crowd funder to help us raise money for the vet bills which came to HALF A MILLION isk!!! A maaaaaassive amount and can you believe it... we raised everything that we needed to get Jeff the treatment he needed. Thank you to all of those who helped us during a financially tough time. We don’t have the words to say how grateful we are.

Anyhooooow, after all of this, we realised that Jeff has quite a fan base so we set him up his own instagram page so’s not to swamp the Skool Beans insta page!

He is managing okay on 3 legs but still finds a few things hard or frustrating. He gets chillier faster and doesn’t like people crowding around him so tends to spend a little less time in the Skool Beans.
His remaining back leg has become a little stiff, so he has a Solensia injection each month to help keep the pain away so that he can continue to enjoy his mountain life.

If you see him, please don’t try and pick him up and PLEASE don’t let young children or dogs near him as he finds them particularly tasty!

Jeff is like the sunshine in Iceland. Never expected but always welcome, so please don’t feel too upset if you don’t see him when you come to Skool Beans.
